The Concrete Grinding Process

Concrete grinding and leveling is a process used to prepare raw concrete for other flooring alternatives, such as laminate or tiles. Grinding can also be used to smooth down rough concrete surfaces to create a more flat, even, and smooth surface. The floor is prepared by grinding and leveling the concrete by shaving and scarifying fractions of an inch of concrete. The process can also be used to remove any trip hazards on site and prep the floors for the planned flooring outcome. This process can also remove any mastics or adhesives which are left over after the removal of previous flooring, giving you a brand new concrete surface.

Polished concrete is obtained by grinding the raw concrete to expose the aggregates. Once the desired sheen is attained, the concrete is then be densified and/or stained with a desired gemtone colour. Up to three levels of diamond grinding are applicable, the first level being a minimal surface shave known as the “concrete milk” up to the 3rd level with a more rigorous approach to expose aggregates (marble / granite / terrazzo chips etc). The polishing process can vary from a low sheen polish to a super high sheen polish. Our team work with designers for any suitable Stains and stencil options that are best fitted to your liking.
